The T4A GPS Maps is a commercial offering of Tracks4Africa. It a super accurate VECTOR map comprising of 14 regional maps of Africa which can be displayed individually or as a seamless map (using the T4A Maps viewer utility). The easiest way to enjoy T4A GPS Maps is to use the MapSource software. If you have this software installed you can upgrade to the latest version which is a free download from www.garmin.com.
The T4A Map is NOT a city navigator and it is NOT an auto-routable map. The T4A Map is also NOT an "atlas of roads". In fact, it may not even cover 5% of all navigable road/tracks in its coverage area BUT it covers 95% of the roads travelled. The T4A Map is NOT about roads, it is about DESTINATIONS and about attention to detail but mostly it is about INFORMATION. Strictly speaking it is NOT a map. It is the collective navigational experience of the T4A Data Community on countless leisure and trips to eco-destinations into remote and eco-sensitive Africa and no two travel experiences are the same. The T4A Map explains where and why ECO USERS do what they do.
Road lines and points of interest on the T4A Map are constructed ONLY/STRICTLY from GPS recorded/confirmed data and data submissions must comply with T4A quality standards. The road lines on the T4A Map are spatially averaged from many independent GPS recordings. This makes the T4A Map super accurate, reliable and unique.
Because of the dynamics on the map, there is an update release 3 times a year. Feb, June and Oct. (version 7.10 means October 2007, next one will be version 8.02 meaning February 2008). If you purchase T4A GPS Maps or any combination thereof, the FOLLOWING NEXT update release will be posted to you automatically. You will receive an email with download links. These download links will be valid for only 30 days. Thereafter the download links will expire and T4A will not re-trigger these links again.
In addition to the high quality road lines are some other interesting additional features:

▪ Elevation lines for South African 4x4 trails
▪ Elevation lines for selected mountain passes
▪ Geo-features like rivers, lakes, mountains, valleys etc.
▪ Outlines for cities, national parks, reserves etc.
The T4A Map is a GPS map constructed by travellers for travellers, people who are serious about travel safety and even more serious about their environment.
T4A GPS Maps is a GPS map for map capable Garmin GPS (Global Positioning Systems) receivers or compatible PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) devices. |
